Abstract
The survey covers the results of 30 years of work at the Microbiological Laboratory of the Institute of Industrial Organic Chemistry (Warsaw) on microbial decomposition of valuable textiles. Some fungi and bacteria were isolated and identified. Fungicides and bactericides intended for the protection of textile materials were tested, and some of them have been used in libraries and museums.
