Abstract
Chemical analysis and x-ray diffraction revealed that tiny microbeads found at Harappan archeological sites in India were made from locally available natural talcose steatite (a soapstone) that was heated to form a mixture of the much harder compounds cristobalite, enstatite and alumina. -- AATA
