Abstract
The archaeometry laboratory of the University of Adelaide has undertaken a variety of dating projects for archaeologists in the region. In one project, a survey of Pacific Island pottery, it was found that thermoluminescence (TL) dating is likely to be severely limited in usefulness on islands remote from the continental shelf (andesitic island arcs, oceanic islands). In another project it was found that where there is close stratigraphic association of14C and TL materials, there will be good agreement between the two dating methods.
