Discusses why labeling needs to be done in order to retain vital provenience information on objects. Proper methods of applying labels using soluble synthetic varnishes and india ink are explained as well as the use of cloth labels for textiles and direct labels for prints and other paper objects. Finally, a list of materials to avoid is given along with the problems which they cause.
