For detection of sulphur, nitrogen and halogens in organic compounds, preparation of sodium extract by fusing the organic compound to be identified and submitting the same to color reaction with sodium nitroprusside for sulphur, ferric chloride for nitrogen as adopted in Lessaigne's test gives positive identification. -- AATA
