Abstract
High-precision 14C measurements of Irish Oak samples at 10 and 20-year intervals covering the time period of AD 50-1830 are presented. These data are compared to the tree ring measurements to determine the fine detail of variation over time in the atmospheric 14C concentration. The two types of measurements together provide a high-precision timescale calibration. Inter-laboratory comparison of a large number of data sets checks the accuracy of the 14C measurements.
