Abstract
A state-of-the-art review of the status and function of accelerator (AMS) small counter and conventional <sup>14</sup>C dating. Accelerator mass spectrometry is already very useful for small samples, and the potential for improvement in precision suggests it could eventually perform most carbon dating.
