Abstract
A small 200 milliliter capacity CO<sub>2</sub> proportional counting system is described which uses only 100 milligrams of carbon, allowing direct dating of bone or small artifacts not datable by conventional-sized counters. The results of dates obtained from four bone samples of various ages and provenances are given. This type of small gas counter is shown to perform effectively as a relatively low-cost alternative that may often bridge the gap between the liter-sized counters and the dedicated accelerators. -- AATA
