Abstract
The damage to and destruction of library/archival materials and works of art, that can result from fire or flooding, can be minimized by developing and putting into action a written disaster prevention/recovery plan. In some situations, planning ahead may actually prevent disasters from occurring. In preparing the document, hazards in building construction and storage/display should be identified and corrected, rescue and care priorities established, a disaster team of staff members to cany out salvage efforts orgarized, and other sources of assistance listed. -- AATA
