The author first describes the methods used to prepare the grounds for prepared paper and then the problems associated with the drawings which arise from secondary paper supports, abrasive damage, foxing, and blackened white lead. Standard conservation treatments for unprepared paper often cannot be used on prepared paper, and modified techniques are discussed.
