Abstract
The training of architects in the German Democratic Republic is complex, and is aimed at imparting to architects a broad basic knowledge enabling them to cooperate with specialists. The knowledge needed for special work in the field of monuments conservation can be acquired in postgraduate studies offered by the Dresden Technical Universities since 1982. Positive experiences have been gained from this form of study which ends with a diploma.
