The co-operation of archaeologists and musicologists in the field of musical instruments found in the course of excavations in Poland is presented. Emphasis is given to recent discoveries of such instruments dated to prehistoric as well as to the earlier historic periods; instruments described include the membranophone, the aerophone and idiophone, bronze bell on bronze breast plates, the monodic pipe, whisties, and carnyx. In later finds there were wooden and clay mouthpieces of instruments (dating respectively, 9th-10th and 17th century). See 18-1076. -- AATA
