Abstract
The extensive documentation of the Villard Houses undertaken prior to construction of the Helmsley Palace Hotel, which would adjoin these mansions, was an invaluable tool in subsequent preservation work. Procedures were devised for protecting and cleaning interior and exterior surfaces during the restoration. See AATA 18-1120.
