Abstract
By the early 1970's the future of Mechanics Hall, one of the few halls in the U.S. remaining from pre-Civil War times, looked bleak. But sparked by a rehabilitation feasibility study and community interest, renovation was undertaken. Safety code requirements were met, modern mechanical systems installed, and the original grandeur restored. See AATA 18-909 and 18-1089.
