Restoration work on the Byzantine church has uncovered constructional elements which necessitate a reexamination of the church's dating. From the first construction period are some frescoes of the 9th century. Further frescoes attest to the second building phase of the 11th century. These are followed by frescoes of the 13th century. Dating is based on iconographical examination of the paintings. -- AATA
