84 samples of a cross-section of the pottery finds from this excavation area were analyzed by instrumental NAA. The analysis and statistical techniques (Cluster and Discriminant Analysis) are described in detail. The Philistine and local wares were virtually identical in composition and all was therefore locally made at Gezer. There is a change in clay composition (possibly clay preparation techniques, or local sources of clay) at the time of the abandonment of the Granary as a public area. Outliers have been identified and are probably from local unusual sources of clay. A valuable feature was comparison with the Brookhaven study on pottery of the Persian period at Gezer and elsewhere. Most of the present study ceramics correspond to Brookhaven's Local Pinestone clay group of Persian ceramics. -- AATA
