Abstract
A systematic study of the organic components of soils from archaeological sites may yield valuable information on occupation activities. Describes the use of relatively rapid and inexpensive analytical techniques for carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen, phosphorus, total organics, and functional groups to identify components indicative of human occupation.
