Abstract
This survey with predictions for the future of all aspects of American museum management covers collections management and conservation as well as deaccessioning, marketing, staffing, and boards of directors. The increased emphasis on conservation planning is due in part to the Institute for Museum Services requirement that grant applicants conduct general environmental surveys and condition surveys before they apply for money for treatments.
