Abstract
The Cathedral of Seville (1402-1927), one of the largest Gothic buildings in Europe, is located at the town center within a highly polluted environment (due to the high traffic density). The stones used come from up to 23 different quarries, the most important being a calcarenite with coarse grains and a porosity of about 35% from Puerto Santa Maria, and a biocalcarenite of fine grain and a porosity of between 11 and 33% from Espera, both in Cádiz (Spain). The different alteration types in the building have been studied. A standardized terminology has been used, the result of an ample study of the terms in the bibliography, which will soon be published. -- AATA
