Abstract
Discusses the deterioration and subsequent conservation treatment of a seven-foot high pine sculpture of Justice which had been subjected to the ravages of outdoor exposure for 140 years. Treatment included removal of loose, decayed wood from the interior and flaking paint from the exterior surface, filling of large cracks and losses with pine and basswood inserts adhered with expoxy resin, disinfection and consolidation using a solution of Acryioid B72, and reconstruction of a missing arm. -- AATA
