Abstract
A scientific study of this group of sculptures from the Louvre Museum was undertaken by the Research Laboratory of the French Museums to investigate their condition and the artist's techniques. The radiographic study required a technique adapted to a volume of unusual dimensions. The procedures are described as are the results obtained on the construction of each piece and its past restorations. The study of remaining polychromy revealed the original coating, the pigments, presence of a sheet of parchment drowned in the folds of the perizonium, and a varnished silver sheet on the border.
