Abstract
Three separate statements in support of library and archive conservation were made at a session of the conference Setting priorities for historical records in January, 1977. Cunha and Poole gave priority to training of conservators, expansion of research facilities, a national survey and policy, and research into microfilm permanence. Walton added the education of curators and archivists to conservation, concern for preservation of large collections rather than restoration of single significant items, pressure from professional groups on publishers to use permanent paper, information storage on discs instead of magnetic tape.
