Abstract
In the technique of old pottery and porcelain mending, the selection of glazed coating is a key process. Traditionally, lac coating, alkyd varnish, nitro-varnish, acrylic coating are used. In order to improve the quality of mending was prepared a kind a glazed coating consisted by acrylic polyurethane in view of the problems existed in the materials often applied was prepared. Through the studies on several components including initiator, flow promoter, foam killer and adhesion promoter, the formula was determined as follow: methyl methacrylate 40%-50%, acrylic 1%-2%, butyl methacrylate 10%-20%, butyl acrylate 20%-40%, 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate 20%-30%, 533M75 1.5%, solvent: butyl acetate. The technique of synthesis was: butyl acetate were added to flask, the contents were heated to boiling point 130-140 degrees C, the monomer composition were added in three hours, after that, the composition were kept at 130-140 degrees C for 1.5 additional hour. The curing agent was HDI trimer with the ratio of the resin: the curing agent=3:1, the new glazed coating has superior properties in respect of resistance to solvent, waterproofness and ultraviolet resistance, compared with traditional glazed coating.
