Damage to the rock cliff figures, such as weathering, denudation, and cracking caused by natural force, are very much related to the rock’s physical and chemical composition. Therefore, it is important to study and analyze the physical characteristics of rocks before starting a preservation project for the rock cliff figures. Random samples taken from various rock cliff figures in the area have been tested. Results show that the rock is sandstone with a natural tendency for crumbling (softening). These findings establish a basic foundation to begin protection project on the rock cliff figures.
