Abstract
Carbon-14 age measurements made with small counting tubes (15 cubic centimeters and 100 cubic centimeters) are compared to results obtained with a large (500 cubic centimeters) counting tube. Statistical application of the F test and regression analysis with and without weighting indicates that the small counting tube age determinations are in statistical agreement with the large tube data. Further analyses applied to the counting systems suggest that the electronic components are minor sources of non-Poisson error. MSSD analysis indicates short-term drift and oscillation are not significant; the Pazdur test indicates long-term instrumental fluctuations are negligible with the small counting tubes.
