Describes the procedure employed to consolidate paint and ground cleavage on a painting with a jute support lined on cotton canvas by aqueous type adhesive. The lining canvas and jute fabric were taken off while the paint and ground layers were temporarily supported on a rigid cardboard facing. The new support of unbleached linen was sealed to the back of the original ground using wax-resin adhesive under vacuum on the hot table. After the discoloured nat ural resin varnish was removed, normal butyl methacrylate in xylene was sprayed on as a protective coating. (A résumé in French is included.) M.R. -- AATA
