To enlarge the collection of pigments several green and blue Cu pigments were prepared and analyzed. Four pigments of the class of basic Cu acetates, some Cu arsenites, malachite and Cu acetate were synthesized. The compositions of nearly all of these pigments were established. X-ray fluorescence pictures were taken. Then the pigments were inspected with the electron microscope. In preparing the pigments it was not attempted to imitate the methods of the Old Masters. We restricted ourselves to synthesis methods leading to uniform and well-defined products. The first part gives a short outline of the use of these pigments and their terminology. The following part deals with the investigation methods used to characterize the pigments. The experiments with their results conclude this survey. -- AATA
