Abstract
Thermoluminescence techniques for dating and authenticating archaeological and fine art objects are based on physical principles which can be readily understood by persons who are not familiar with the underlying physics, chemistry, and mathematics. Consequently, this presentation is as free as possible from technical jargon and descriptions. A few essential technical considerations are included in a clearly marked section that may be omitted without diminishing the overall understanding.
