Abstract
The paper describes the use of light section microscopy as a non-destructive method to investigate the behaviour of protective thin layers employed on works of art. Preliminary experimental results of tests carried out with two products (beeswax and Zapon) on bronze plates have shown the sensitivity and reliability of the method.
