This paper outlines how digitizing urn profiles and applying principal components analysis to slices through the profiles can lead to a vigorous approach to Anglo-Saxon pottery classification. The final classification is expressed in terms of measurement-ratios and is tested using information about decoration and associated grave-goods. -- AATA
