The composition of solutions of benzene, toluene, xylene, mesitylene, or p-cymene in methanol, ethanol, or isopropanol may be determined by titration with water to the turbidity point. Sharper end points are obtained if iodine is added as a color contrast indicator. Close control of temperature is necessary for accurate results. Titration graphs for the various systems are shown.
