Abstract
The passivity and corrosion inhibition of copper in weak acidic organic media, e.g., aqueous solutions of diammonium hydrogen citrate (DAHC) (0.15-1.0 M), has been investigated using potentiodynamic measurements. During anodic polarization two copper oxides were formed: red cuprous oxid (Cu2O) and black cupric oxide (CuO). The rate of corrosion in these organic electrolyte solutions was found to vary considerably with the increase of both the concentration of DAHC and the temperature of the cell. The protective effect of some organic inhibitors such as ammonium benzoate and ammonium thiocyanate was also studied. -- AATA
