Abstract
The article discusses the care of metal objects with an eye towards giving advice on home collections. Recommends a general temperature of 68°F and 40% humidity for an optimal environment. A long list of don'ts is given which warn against what are often common abuses of metal pieces. Suggests polishing objects with polishes that contain no chlorine, little ammonia, and a very flne abrasive. Stresses the importance of storing objects in proper containers and warns against rubber padding, oak cabinets or polyvinylidene chloride (Saran Wrap) wrapping. The article then discusses various treatments that can be done to conserve a damaged object. -- AATA
