X-ray, SEM-EDS and FT-IR were used to analyze the early Six Dynasties gilt bronze animal head appliqué, and, based on the analytical results, protection programs were made. In the protection and repair process, deionized water was first used to fill the capillaries of the gilt bronze, and then strong acid ion exchange resin was used to quickly treat the green corrosion layer. Such a process could effectively clean the left side of the gilt bronze animal head appliqué.
