A newly unearthed bronze jar of the Sui Dynasty was restored based on an investigation and assessment of its state of preservation. One of the main objectives was to reveal its relevant archaeological and scientific information during the restoration. Some information about the material quality and manufacturing technology of the bronze jar was acquire by means of optical microscopy, X-ray fluorescence, X-ray inspection X-ray inspection and scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectral analysis. Other principles related to the conservation of unearthed cultural relics are also discussed.
