Abstract
The thermomechanical properties of PMMA resins produced by thermal polymerization of the monomer were measured. The effects of various conditions including contact with the air and other materials were investigated. Pronounced anisotropies are found in the dimensional changes that occur during heating of the PMMA resins. The contact with oxygen or polar surfaces during polymerization results in oriented molecular chains that relax irreversibly during thermal cycling. See also AATA 19-1790. -- AATA
