Discussion topics: excavation of waterlogged archaeological sites, conflicts in philosophies of archaeologists and conservators, production of a field manual in conservation for archaeologists, a central clearing house for conservators which could be used by archaeologists including conservation techniques in the U.S. and Canadian computer banks, possibility of a special newsletter for wet site archaeologists and conservators, hydraulic (pressurized water) excavation techniques for recovery of fragile waterlogged artifacts, the variety of preservation techniques being tried for waterlogged materials, display to the public of artifacts, whether archaeologists should slow down excavation of wet sites to enable conservators to keep pace, conflicts between conservators, variations inwaterlogged environments leading to variations in effective preservation methods, conservation research, problems of conservation, lack of adequate funds for research into conservation methods and problems, dearth of conservators in the world, problems with timely publication of <i>Studies in Conservation, and clear cautions accompanying chemical formulas which might be used by archaeologists.
