Abstract
In the first part (Jan., 1976 issue) the composition of deciduous woods and their microscopic features are discussed. Here the microanatomical structures of the following 20 types of wood are described: Oak, sweet chestnut, elm, ash, walnut, sweet cherry, plum-tree, sycamore, black adler, boxwood, spindle-tree, beech, sweet bay, olive-tree, pear-tree, apple-tree, rowan-tree, aspen, white willow, and lime. These descriptions are complemented by photomicrographs. There is also a survey of features and a key to facilitate identification. -- AATA
