Abstract
The Magdalen is basically painted in oil with a limited use of egg tempera in certain flesh tones and whites. The pigments used appear to be typical of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The ground is a reddishbrown color and of little density. Application techniques for the paint film are discussed including scratching and incising.
