Abstract
Equilibrium dye adsorption values and saturation values were obtained in order to study the dyeing properties of wool with reactive dyes. The dyes used in this study were C.I. ReactiveRed 3 and C.I. Reactive Orange 16. Dyeing experiments were performed on the state of infinitive dyebath at 60, 70 and 80°C for equilibrium dye exhaustion values and only at 80°C for saturation values. Diffusion coefficients were calculated from relationships between time and amount of dye exhaustion. Maximum fixation values were shown at pH 2. 6 for C.I. reactive Red 3, and at pH 5.2 for C.I. Reactive Orange 16. When dye exhaustion values were much larger than those of fixation, it was found that the two dyes were exhausted in the similar equivalent volume to wool. These appearances of experiments could be explained by investigation of reaction mechanism. -- AATA
