Abstract
This report is a summary of a lecture given by Polly Willman of the Brooklyn Museum and Helene von Rosenstiel of Restorations. Each conservator treated an example of the same design by Charles James, using different methods. The main problem was a pleated organdy flounce, which was wet cleaned and bleached by Ms. Willman and dry cleaned and bleached by Ms. von Rosenstiel, who also had the flounce professionally re-pleated. Both conservators ironed the flounce after cleaning. -- AATA
