Effect of varying laundering conditions on abrasion of mercerized durable press 60/40% cotton/polyester fabric known as Natural Blend was investigated. Varying laundering treatments included phosphateand carbonate-built detergents and moderately hard and very hard water. Abrasive wear was evaluated by breaking strength, elongation-at-break, weight loss, and scanning electron microscopic (SEM) observations before and after 50 laundering cycles. Whiteness retention and shrinkage were also evaluated before and after 10, 30, and 50 launderings. -- AATA
