Abstract
Based on a survey, a description is given of the most commonly cultivated trees and their uses. For the construction of cayucos (small fishing boats) 36 tree species were used, of which Anacardium excelsum and muscua-uala (an unidentified species) were the most important. In total, 32 species were used for fuelwood, of which Rhizophora spp. and Byrsonima sp. were preferred. House construction poles were made from the wood of 40 species, the main ones being Manilkara achras and uas-uals (an unidentified species). Other tree products included medicine, handicrafts, construction wood and food.
