The formal reopening of the <i>Staatliche Lutherhalle</i> in Wittenberg on April 16, 1983 provided the author with the opportunity to appraise the past, present, and future of the world's greatest museum of the history of the Reformation. He dwells on the scientific efforts to restore, conserve and preserve material that preceded the reopening and made it possible for the Museum Lutheri to present itself to the national and international public with a new look and with new ideas. -- AATA
