Techniques based on the use of lime poultice and limewater were proposed for the consolidation of limestone sculptures. Tests were made on samples of weathered stone to understand the consolidating process. The treated samples were studied under the microscope; their resistance to abrasion was determined; attempts to consolidate crushed stone were carried out under a variety of conditions.
