Four different types of copper deposits can be found in the north of the Hesse region, in central Germany. There is no archaeological evidence to support the prehistoric use of these ores although copper objects can be found in large numbers in the area, hence the necessity of a research project to elucidate whether the objects are made of local copper. -- AATA
