So many archaeological objects were found at an excavation site in Basel, Switzerland, that it was necessary to use a computer merely to inventory them. The program contained options for selecting and grouping the objects according to archaeological features, for statistical treatment of the finds, for drawing maps of the regional distribution of the objects, and for cataloguing all the data. -- AATA
