Abstract
The effect of uneven etching of different sizes of grains in copper and copper alloys is discussed. A metallographic procedure and a new etchant consisting of Fe(NO<sub>3</sub>a)<sub>3</sub> + HCl + H<sub>2</sub>O (5 g + 25 and 75 ml respectively) are described and the results of an investigation of the grain structure of Cu/ 1-5Sn, Cu-P, ETP Cu and OFHC Cu are presented. It is proposed that the method be included in ASTM E340 and ASTM E 407. 2 references. (In English.) -- AATA
