Provenance studies of archaeological objects by activation analysis and isotope analysis are described. The activation analyses of many elements in potteries, ceramics, glasses, stone implements, and coins are studied. The applications of isotopic ratios of such stable isotopes as lead, carbon and oxygen as well as back-scattering of beta-particles, absorption and scattering of neutrons, and natural radioactivities to paintings are also presented.
