An adaptation of the radiosterilization gamma procedure was used to disinfect the mummy of Ramses II at environmental temperature, pressure and hygrometry without chemical products. 1,8 Mrd has been the dose fixed for the destruction of contaminating species; harmlessness of this dose on the components of the mummies studied has been verified. The irradiation conditions for these mummies were determined theoretically; experience has confirmed the calculations. A special device was arranged to preserve the mummy from further contamination.
